Kraaifontein is located in South Africa’s Cape Peninsula area and owes its established to a farmer named Joosten who took a liking to the area and bought a farm to raise cattle in the late 1600s. The farm was enormous, stretching from Durban Road to Paarl in the north and Stellenbosch in the east. Today the area may not be so synonymous with cattle farming, but it is well known for the excellent vegetables and fruit produced here, as well as the vineyards along Bottlary Road.
Horse lovers will be pleased to know that Kraaifontein has plenty of trails for the experienced or novice riders that traipse through the picturesque winelands. There are some farmers in the region who produce flowers for the local and export markets and there is even a nursery here exclusively stocking Bonsai plants. Some of the more popular residential areas include Uitzicht, Bonnie Brae and Zonnendal.
Considering Kraaifontein is primarily an agricultural area, the properties available are general farms or smallholdings, but there are various other places geared towards a rewarding rural lifestyle away from the madness of big city life. Ideally situated close to the winelands, it really offers some of the most exquisite scenery in the Cape. If you are looking for property in the country then Kraaifontein could have just what you need. |
