George Property | Garden Route

George happens to be the sixth oldest town in South Africa and is the capital of the southern Cape.  The Garden Route is renowned the world over for its excellent Mediterranean climate and exquisite coastal surroundings.  This particular town is centrally situated halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, which makes it an ideal point from which to explore the neighbouring towns and villages along the way.

Primarily a farming area, George is situated on a 10 kilometre plateau that lies between the majestic Outeniqua Mountains in the north and the Indian Ocean in the south.  Due to the fact that it is so well established, it also offers a sophisticated infrastructure, with access to all the major banks, various businesses and shopping facilities.  Somehow it manages to retain its country village atmosphere however, which makes it a hit with residents and visitors alike.

There are a number of interesting historical monuments to see in George, including the Slave Tree, which is an old English oak that owes its name to the large chain and lock embedded in its trunk.  The King Edward VII Library building is also an excellent example of historical architecture.  With so much to offer in terms of stunning scenery, wide-open space and a variety of entertainment, it’s no wonder that property in George is so popular.
