Company background and information

SA Hometraders was formed some 3 years ago as a property media company. We specialize in providing a national property portal www.sahometraders.co.za. Estate Agents pay a monthly subscription to have access to load property to the site.

We currently have over 350 subscribers. The site lists some 12000 properties for sale, 4000 rentals and a selection of farms and developments.

This national site is extremely well positioned on various search engines and accordingly attracts a wide range of buyers/sellers and receives over 1.2 million page views and over 35 000 unique visitors per month.

We are privately owned and have carved out a niche position in the on-line marketing arena in a short space of time.

Product Details

Whilst we have various smaller products, in the main agents would be responsible for marketing and selling the following products.

Subscription only module

Estate agents can elect to pay either R228 pm for up to 10 listings or R399 to list an unlimited number of properties. Listings include properties, rentals, developments and farms for sale. These different property types are each listed separately under different tabs on the site.

Benefits to the agency include.

Agency website design and hosting

In addition to providing the national site SA Hometraders has also designed over 50 agency sites. These are template based, however each site is tailor made by way of look, feel, branding and additional information required.

One of the benefits of exploring this option is that properties listed on the agency website will be automatically and simultaneously listed on www.sahometraders.co.za. This double-edged approach of having two sites working for them ensures maximum reach.

The agency website furthermore allows agencies to showcase their own portfolio of properties, information on the area they operate in, and their particular strengths and marketing plan for prospective sellers. These benefits remain whether the agency is an independent or a branch/franchise of a larger brand

It often takes time for a browser to dig down through corporate sites to find specific properties in an area. These corporate sites also seldom allow agencies to showcase their properties and areas, as they would ideally like to do.

Agency sites are designed at a once off cost of R2 850 and a charge of R399 is levied for domain registration. Thereafter monthly costs are R171 for website hosting, PLUS the R228 or R399 fee mentioned in subscription module only, above

This product was developed for individual agents. Latest developments off shore, and on an increasing basis locally, highlight the need for agents to brand their own name and face. While the personalised sites may still have cross-referencing to the brand the agent works for, it reinforces the professional relationship between individual real estate advisor and clients.

Property Listing Group websites

It has become common practice for estate agents in a particular area to share certain chosen properties with one another on a split commission basis. The extent of the practice varies from area to area as does the level of participation. Many antiquated systems have evolved to manage the sharing of information.

In order to "webify" the process of sharing information SA Hometraders developed the PLN product. This is a site that allows for online immediate distribution of information as well as collating of history and reporting sort by Estate Agents. The product was developed specifically to satisfy the needs of a group of agents in Cape Town.

Membership to the PLN website and information is not conditional upon subscribing to SA Hometraders. Costs are presently R228pm on which 30% commission is available to an area agent. This product in its early days has served as a good means of cross selling other SA Hometraders products.

Income potential for Area Agents

This is dependent upon the area that you are working in. Certain areas by their nature will be restrictive and may only require “part time” work and form a second income for the agent.

Remuneration is by way of commission only. The agent benefits from all up front fees as well as monthly subscriptions.

Commission is 30% on Upfront fees and 30% on monthly fees and is payable on the following fees. Commission is payable on amounts excluding VAT and hosting

The table hereunder shows the potential income that can be generated. Figures are based on what we believe to be an average area, but they assume the agent to be working full time.

We would welcome the opportunity to discuss what potential exists within any given area. The table excludes the benefit that might be gained from a launch in an area. The table assumes:

• Average upfront amount: R 1800
• Average subscription amount: R 230
